Family Resource Centers have a vision to create strong and caring environments while collaborating with communities. Through these partnerships we support families and help people build protective factors. Our local Wayne County Family Resource center is a safe place for families to come together to be supported and to have fun. We offer a variety of services to serve the local community.
- Concrete support in times of need. Susy’s Store ensures families have what they need to stay healthy and safe. We offer make and take meals once a week and hygiene items for families with young people in the home.
- Safety Courses and Education. We offer various FREE classes on Safe Sleep, Car Seat Safety, and other safety topics. The center also provides free Safety Items and baby proofing supplies to families.
- Family Fun Events every month. All events are FREE for families to attend, and we usually offer activities and snacks at most of the events.
- Onsite connection to services and programing with our co-located partners. During the month, we offer presentations and activities hosted by local partners that focus on topics that are important to our guests. Some of our past guest speakers and presenters have been local credit unions, health service providers, and local support groups.
- Community Navigators know the communities’ resources and are here to support. Here in Wayne County, we offer one on one support during our open hours, and we have bilingual staff that can help our Spanish speaking families.
During the month of September, we will be offering multiple activities for families to enjoy. We will be offering an Eat and Chat for parents about the dangers of the web, we will be having a Bubble Party to celebrate Literacy Month, a Tumbler Craft for parents and the center will be celebrating its third birthday with a big birthday party full of crafts and prizes!
October
During the month of October, we will be offering a Potty-Training class, Trick or Treat Bag decorating, Halloween Planters with Purdue Extension, a Monster Mash Event where we will do crafts and have fun activities. We will also be partnering with other organizations around town for their trunk or treat events!
