James Rariden House

120 West Main Street, Centerville

Built in 1835 for Mr. Rariden. He was elected to the U.S. Congress  in 1838 from Indiana. His good friend was Senator Henry Clay of Kentucky, who also served as Secretary of State and was a candidate for President in 1824. Mr. Clay was an overnight guest in this Federal style home and spoke to several town citizens at a gathering in the house the same evening.
